Kawartha Lakes, Grand Island
My first location is Grand Island located in the centre of Balsam lake. I choose this location because it is where my families cottage is located. I spent most of my childhood during summer vacations at grand Island fishing, catching critters (Snakes, frogs, etc), swimming and going for rides on the boat. The indigenous peoples population is largely made up of Mississauga and Ojibway First Nations people that are said to have arrived in the 1600′, for a couple hundred years this indigenous population mainly lived in a settlement on Indian Point, which was also a major route of travel for those passing by the lake.
